Risa started riding at the age of 10 in Southern California. She road and showed in the hunter/jumper circuit until she finished college. After graduation Risa moved to Colorado to attend graduate school. While working on her Ph.D. in molecular biology, she continued riding and showing locally in hunters, jumpers and equitation in both the local "CHUA" circuit and the national "A" rated circuit. Prior to and after graduating she worked as an assistant trainer for a prominent Longmont trainer for 9 years before starting her own business in 2000. After starting her own family, Rusa changed her focus from competition to cultivating relationships between horse and equistrian. Risa really enjoys teaching students how to communicate with and work in harmony with their horse. She also enjoys helping horses young and mature how to achieve their greatest potential. Her students understand that gaining a horse's trust and enthusiasm is a wonderful and incredible feeling. Risa still enjoys participating in local shows. |
